Fighting Back Against Extremism
nick believes in
Extremist Republicans are completely misaligned with the values of our district. Our current State Senator, Ryan Fazio, tried to defeat the Reproductive Freedom Defense Act, a bill to further protect women’s reproductive rights. He has called Roe v. Wade and Obergefell v. Hodges offensive to the rule of law. He also directly increased the threat of gun violence by voting against Governor Lamont’s comprehensive gun safety law.
Nick will always fight to protect reproductive rights and keep our communities safe from gun violence. There is no room for cheap political points when the stakes are this high.
(1) GUN VIOLENCE
In 2023, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention cited gun violence as the #1 cause of death of children in the United States. This year, the U.S. Attorney General declared gun violence a national health crisis. We cannot afford to send legislators to Hartford who do not take gun violence seriously. By enacting strong, common sense legislation, we can save lives.
Nick was proud to work in the Lamont administration when the Governor introduced and signed a bill into law that enacted some of the most effective gun regulations in the country. Senator Fazio voted against this comprehensive gun safety law. By opposing a bill that bans assault weapons and strengthens firearm purchase safety standards, Senator Fazio made us all less safe.
(2) WOMEN’S REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS
The overwhelming majority of Connecticut voters believe in a woman’s right to choose. Bodily autonomy is on the ballot, and it’s time for leadership that reflects these values.
Nick’s opponent, Ryan Fazio, voted against the Reproductive Freedom Defense Act, a bill to further protect women’s reproductive rights. This vote was an abandonment of our core values. We can’t send anti-choice politicians like Senator Fazio to Hartford.
(3) LGBTQ+ RIGHTS
The 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges ruling guaranteed the fundamental right of marriage to same-sex couples. Senator Ryan Fazio called this ruling “offensive to the rule of law.” Our district deserves better—we need a leader who deeply values our LGBTQ+ community.
Nick supports comprehensive anti-discrimination legislation, ensuring equal rights in employment, housing, and public services. He also advocates for access to affirming healthcare, inclusive education policies, and mental health resources tailored to the LGBTQ+ community. We must all ensure that every LGBTQ+ resident feels valued, respected, and empowered to live their lives without fear of discrimination or harm.
